It's easy to get an interior door wrong: the wrong leaf size, a frame that doesn't match the wall thickness, or forgotten trims. Here's what to check before you buy.
Sizes in Estonia
Door leaves are sold in standard sizes given in decimetres: 7, 8, 9 or 10 × 21. For example, "9×21" means a leaf of roughly 825 × 2040 mm, with an opening for it of roughly 900 × 2100 mm.
| Module | Opening, mm | Frame outer size, mm | Door leaf, mm |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7×21 | 700 × 2100 | 690 × 2090 | 625–643 × 2040–2048 |
| 8×21 | 800 × 2100 | 790 × 2090 | 725–743 × 2040–2048 |
| 9×21 | 900 × 2100 | 890 × 2090 | 825–843 × 2040–2048 |
| 10×21 | 1000 × 2100 | 990 × 2090 | 925–943 × 2040–2048 |
- Source — swedoor.ee, "Siseuste mõõdud" section; other brands may have a leaf a few mm wider.
- Gap for wedges and foam — 10–20 mm.
- The frame is usually 68 or 92 mm; a thicker wall needs a jamb extension.
- If your door is the 2000 mm-high standard, send the sizes — we will tell you if it fits.
How to measure the opening
Measure the opening's width and height in three places (top, bottom and middle), and the wall thickness in three places too. Use the smallest of the three measurements for your calculations — that's what makes sure the door actually fits.
What to buy besides the door leaf
- The leaf — the door itself
- The frame (jamb) — sold separately from the leaf for Swedoor and JELD-WEN
- Trims for both sides of the opening
- A handle and a latch
- A jamb extension, if the wall is thicker than the frame
Before you buy, send us a link to the door and the opening's measurements — we'll check the set is right, free of charge.
